DJ Tayy
Engineer/DJ/Producer
Aside from being one of the newest additions to the Carnival Cruise Line DJ roster and being the first lady guest mixer on Tampa Bayʼs 95.7 the Beat, DJ Tayy has taken the DJing scene by storm since her humble beginnings! Not only has she spun at popular malls, such as Southland Mall (Miami, FL), Florida Mall (Orlando, FL), Brandon Town Center (Brandon, FL) and International Plaza (Tampa, FL) but Tayy has also spun at concerts, KISSʼ End of the Road Tour, and for Fortune 500 companies and restaurants such as Macyʼs, Bahama Breeze, Bebe, PINK by Victoria Secret, Six:02 by Footlocker, PUMA and Old Navy.
Born in Queens, New York and raised in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, DJ Tayy learned to read, write music and play several instruments at a very young age. At the age of 16, while attending Miami Southridge Senior High School, Tayy picked up DJing as a hobby just mixing music for friends at house parties and graduations. After she graduated Highschool, she moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida where she purchased her first pair of turntables in order to learn the art form of mixing and scratching. It was very difficult for her to be taken serious as a female DJ while in college, but once she broke into the scene nothing could stop her from plummeting to the top.
DJ Tayy is currently the Official DJ for Smoken Words, an open mic night in Tampa, the Indie Noir Market, Tampaʼs Premier Melanated Market and an Instructor of Hillsborough Community Collegeʼs Kids DJ Summer Camp. It is plain to see that DJ Tayy has quickly become one of central Floridaʼs most sought-after record spinners and soon to be engineer and producer.
